Senior Lawyers – Administrative Law/Statutory Interpretation
Initial secondment to 30 June 2025 with possible extension
The Role
Our client a high profile Commonwealth department is seeking an experienced Administrative Lawyer to work on a variety of legal projects.
The position will provide Legal advice and assistance in the operation of legislative instruments and in administrative law and statutory interpretation.
The Responsibilities
High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidates will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.
The successful candidate will provide a variety of legal advice on subjects including:
- defensible decision-making;
- levies and charges;
- civil penalty matters and litigation;
- the development of relevant policies;
- Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth);
- Imported Food Control Act 1992 (Cth); and
- Illegal Logging Prohibition Act 2012 (Cth).
The Requirements
A current practising certificate (or the ability to obtain one) and experience advising on Commonwealth administrative law and statutory interpretation matters as well as at least 5 years PQE is essential.
A background advising in teams working on agricultural legislation or export controls or biological controls would highly regarded.
